Dates of Employment: April 28, 2025 - October 31, 2025

Pura Farms is a seasonal small farm operation. This position will begin at the end of March and conclude in November, give or take a few weeks on both ends. We only produce crops for wholesale deliveries, and we do not sell at farmers markets.

Job Summary

This position starts out greenhouse and field work heavy in late March, April, May and June; transitions into primarily harvest & crop maintenance in July/August/September; and finishes with field clean up in October/November. 

Shifts are ½ days about 4 hours/day. Here is a sample schedule totaling a max of ~ 20 hours/week: 

• Mondays - heavy on greenhouse and field work 
• Tuesdays - field work; once harvest season hits, harvest & pack orders first
• Wednesday - pack van; early AM delivery to wholesale clients
• Thursday - harvest & pack more orders, then field work
• Friday - pack van; early AM delivery to wholesale clients
• Saturday & Sunday - off

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently carry out day to day field/greenhouse activities such as: seeding, bed prep, transplanting, weeding, and harvesting.
• Washing produce & storing appropriately 
• Packing wholesale orders 

Minimum Qualifications

• Preferred 1 season of experience on another farm 
• Be able to lift 50 pounds safely and with repetition
• Be able to work a 4-6 hour shift in all weather conditions and sometimes independently
• Be able to bend over and crouch down for long periods of time

• Have a valid NJ Drivers License and clean driving record to operate delivery vehicle 1-2 times/week

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Ability to follow written directions and work independently 
• Precision harvesting! 

Compensation:

$18/hour 

3 work days Paid Time Off (4 hours each day, totaling 12 hours )

Sick pay accrued at 1 hr per 52 worked

Annual gear stipend of $100

Goal is to get up to the living wage in NJ which is around $24/hour, although I can’t start there my first season of hiring.
